报告摘要
The mystery of dark matter (DM) particle is a fundamental problem in particle physics and cosmology. The search of the DM particle scattering off nuclei target using ultra-low background detector is one of the most promising technology to decipher the nature of DM. XENON1T experiment is the world’s largest and most sensitive detector using liquid xenon for DM search. The detection principle is based on a dual-phase TPC, using 2.0 tonnes of xenon. In this talk, the main result from the XENON1T detector will be discussed with an exposure of 1.0 tonne × year, which led to the most stringent exclusion limits on several DM-nucleon interaction models. In the end, the construction of XENONnT, the upgrade of the XENON1T detector, will be covered.
报告人简介
Dr. Yuehuan Wei received his PhD in 2014 at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, with the first doctoral thesis in PandaX dark matter experiment, “Development of A Dual Phase Xenon Time Projection Chamber for Dark Matter Search”. Thereafter, he moved to Zurich University, and worked with Prof. Laura Baudis as a postdoctoral researcher, where he worked on XENON project for dark matter search. Start from 2017, he moved to the University of California, San Diego, where he joined Prof.Kaixuan Ni’s group, continue his postdoctoral research in the field of dark matter direct detection. Dr Wei’s research interests include the physics of dark matter and neutrinos. He is heavily involved in development of particle detectors based on liquid xenon for the investigation of dark matter.
